Make arrangements for the remembrance of Allah. This is the essence of knowledge and remembrance. Obedience to Allah should be accompanied by His awareness. Hold firmly to remembrance. Knowledge without remembrance is nothing but darkness. It is a discourse from there. It is published. Knowledge without remembrance is utter darkness. A person knows the layout of his house but hits the wall in the dark. Even though he knows how his house is built.
But he cannot walk in the darkness. It is exactly the same; if there is no remembrance, even with knowledge, one will go astray. Remembrance is the light to distinguish between right and wrong and to find the path. Therefore, do not take remembrance lightly. Make arrangements for remembrance. Reciting the name of Allah is an exercise for His awareness. Then spending 24 hours in His awareness is the real purpose of remembrance. Performing remembrance without the awareness of Allah is disrespectful. The result of which is the continuation of heedlessness in the hearts. Do remembrance in solitude. Do it while in a state of ablution. Cut yourself off from others while remembering, as remembrance demands seclusion. Just completing the count of beads is not remembrance. I submit that the reality of remembrance is that Allah is remembered at the time of committing a sin. If He is not remembered at the time of sin, then one is not a rememberer (Zakir). Completing the habit of counting beads is not
remembrance. Remembering Allah at the time of a sin and fearing that sin by remembering Him is the true remembrance . To reach that state, to reach that state, there is the practice of remembrance. He used to say that remembrance is a means. An exercise for remembering Allah 24 hours a day. People have considered the means to be the goal. They have forgotten the intended purpose. At this moment, engaged in nonsense, yet thinking they are in remembrance. At this moment, backbiting, yet thinking they are in remembrance. No, rather the true rememberer is the one who remembers Allah at the time of sin. Remembering Allah during formal dhikr is an exercise for keeping Him in mind at the time of sin. That is why it was said, indeed...The true rememberer is that person. The God-fearing are those who, when they are drawn toward sin by devils, they remember Allah. Allah comes to their memory. Suddenly their eyes open. Does eyes opening mean this?
It means they see the punishment of Allah with their own eyes. This is the punishment upon the world. The eyes open immediately. The eyes are already open. Blindness does not mean that one cannot see anyone. This is what blindness is, when you cannot see the afterlife; therefore, ensure you observe Dhikr, including morning and evening Tasbeeh: one bead of the third Kalima (SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu Akbar, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billahil aliyyil adheem), one bead of Durood Shareef, and three beads of Istighfar —those favors of Muhammad (peace be upon him)! If you were to make shoes out of the skin of your own body and offer them, then I swear by God! You could not repay his favor. O Allah! You alone are All-Powerful. To have enabled Muhammad (peace be upon him) to bring this religion to us through poverty, hunger, sustaining injuries, and enduring hardships to deliver this faith to us...O Allah! The favor he has upon us, we are incapable of repaying.
Today, O Allah, You alone grant the reward on our behalf. This is the state of Durood Shareef in our speeches. May Allah forgive me. The situation of the speakers is the same. The listeners are the same, in that they only pay attention to the subject matter. The entire gathering lacks the disposition to recite Durood Shareef upon hearing the blessed name of the Prophet (peace be upon him). This is what I am witnessing. Allahu Akbar. It is the curse of Jibraeel and the Ameen of Muhammad (peace be upon him) that when his name is mentioned, That person is extremely deprived and deserving of being distanced from Allah's mercy who does not send Durood upon hearing his name. I request this entire gathering, both speakers and listeners, to ensure this is observed. Authors who write ' Salaam' think that their book will become shorter. It will not become shorter. It will become rejected. Yes, it will become rejected. It will be invalid. What trouble did you have in writing "Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam"?
The reader would have read the whole thing. There are blessings in writing it out in full as well. To save yourself a little expense, instead of writing "Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam," you wrote 'Saad-Laam'. You wrote 'Meem' . A strange thing a gentleman told me. He went to a scribe to get his book written. The scribe was very good. He had beautiful handwriting; he told him, "Look, you have to write this, but don't write too much in it. Just, there is actually Durood Shareef at many places, your name comes up often, so just write 'Salaam' so it costs less."
So the scribe said, "One of your stings is that you are trying to cut down on the letters of the book to save money, and a bigger sting of yours is that you are being stingy about writing ' Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam' in full." I will not write a single letter of this book. He said again, "I will pay you double." I will give you whatever you ask for. He said, "By God, even if I were to get the whole world for writing this book, and I didn't write ' Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam' in full..."
"...I would not write a single letter of your book." Just think about it. When the hearts of the Ummah forget the Dawah, they will forget your favors. The point is, the amount of suffering you endured because of this call to Allah......those calling to this Dawah will forget the pains of calling your Ummah toward Allah. Because one who does not understand the Dawah, how will he understand the pains of your Islam?
That is why I requested to ensure the three tasbeehs. Furthermore, recitation of the Quran is the most superior form of Dhikr. In our gatherings, with long speeches and consultations, there is no time left for the recitation of the Quran. There is no focus on voluntary prayers (Nawafil). Those who remain disconnected from Allah will not be able to connect the servants of Allah to Him. This is something for us to think about, what kind of program we are going through. Is this in Dawah or for the sake of Dawah? Dawah is the name of connecting and re-connecting with Allah. Make the recitation of the Quran a major part of your daily routine. There is no Dhikr more superior than this. It comes in the Hadith that the one who does not find time for Dhikr and Dua because of the recitation of the Quran, Allah grants him better than that. Ensure you focus greatly on the recitation of the Quran.
This is the Word that has come from the Being of Allah. Recite it daily, and after asking the scholars, make sure to keep a Tafseer (exegesis) for your study as well. Easy translation: Do not get into long Tafseers of the Quran, but for easy translations of the Quran —may Allah reward Maulvi Bilal Hasan with goodness—I liked his translation . Other scholars have also done translations; in their translation, it is, I mean, a very concise translation.
Meaning of concise is that he has provided a very easy translation of the verses. Reading the Quran with understanding is necessary so that every Muslim may directly understand the Word of Allah and be affected by it ; that is why it is necessary. Contemplating and reflecting upon the Quran is a command of the Quran. Therefore, instead of going into any Tafseer or any detail, definitely look at the general translation of the Quranic verses. If you do not understand something, ask the scholars.
It is a simple matter. But I say that understanding the Quran is very necessary. Very necessary. The polytheists of Makkah objected to Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA) reciting the Quran aloud, fearing their women and children would embrace Islam upon hearing it. When they listened with understanding, they would become Muslims. We do not read with understanding. That is why we are not moved by it. We get moved by reading false newspapers. We are not moved by reading the true report, the Quran. Because we are reading the false newspaper with understanding. We are not reading the true Quran with understanding. That is why I am requesting that you ensure this as well . And the recitation of the Quran during Khurooj (stepping out in the path of Allah), SubhanAllah. It is stated in a tradition that whoever goes out in the path of Allah and recites a thousand verses, Allah Almighty records his name among the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs, and the Righteous. Just think about it. Even if one recites while staying in the Haram,
they will not get this reward. This reward, this status is only for the person who is on this path, the one I am describing; this, this is that very path. Remove from your minds, collectively, the idea that this path is different and that path was different. Maulana Ilyas Sahib and his son, both father and son passed away saying that this work is the work of the Sahaba, this work is the work of the Sahaba, this work is the work of the Sahaba. The biggest cause of failure will be those who think, "This work is different, that work was different," because we have taken one part of the Sahaba's work, Qital ( fighting), and by taking that, we have forgotten all the other purposes of the Sahaba's movement. I want to say something, This Khurooj and movement, this is the true Sunnah of the Sahaba; Qital is the final part of this movement. Even in that, Dawah ( invitation to Allah) comes first.
According to the Imam, even after fulfilling the obligatory Dawah, giving Dawah on the battlefield is Mustahab ( preferable). Give Dawah even now. Give Dawah even now. Give Dawah even now. To say that these virtues belong to Qital. No. These virtues belong to Khurooj and traveling, for the Ummah to go to each individual personally, give them Dawah, and take them out of their environment. Connect them to knowledge, connect them to the Quran, connect them to the scholars, connect them to the mosques, and bring them to the obligatory duties . The real purpose is not the destruction of the Ummah, but its guidance. That is why I am saying that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had made this Ummah a traveling one. Therefore, he mentioned the virtues of these good deeds along with movement, that even if you recite while sitting in Madinah Munawwara or sitting in the sanctuary of Makkah, you will not get the reward that, I swear by God, you will get by stepping out on this path. It is a certainty, it is a certainty. That is
why it was said that one who goes out in the path of Allah and recites these verses, Allah will place him among the Prophets, the Truthful, the Martyrs... why? Why is this being said? It is being said because these are the three types of workers. Prophets, the Truthful, and the Martyrs. These are the three types of workers. If you become one of these three types— working on your locality, working on yourself, working on your community, working for the whole world, the Prophetic way of working. If you work everywhere in terms of effort, then Allah will include you among the righteous. It is simple, in the end...
If the effort is in this regard, these three aspects, then your ultimate destination will be with the righteous. Therefore it was said, and I am submitting this, that one should make great arrangements for the recitation of the Quran. Make Tahajjud mandatory, hold fast to Tahajjud. The help you receive during the day in Dawah work will come from standing in prayer at night. The work will be done with Allah's help. I was thinking last night , if this whole gathering was listening like this at 3:00 AM, standing in prayer, then the work...what would Allah not do? What would Allah not do, if! If Hindah, the one who chewed the liver of his uncle, could embrace Islam after seeing the individual and collective night prayers of the Sahaba on the night of the Conquest of Makkah.
Then in this era, I believe there is no outsider who doesn't have such sentiments in their heart. Think. The companions feel like this. You are making them recite. You are making them recite. Brother, the gathering is tired . Let them rest. No. Listen to me carefully, the day of worship for the Noble Prophet (PBUH). The day of your worship. The day of your worship, when you had to perform Rami in Mina, throw stones at Satan, then perform sacrifice , and perform Tawaaf-e-Ziyarat. The night before this day, the night of Muzdalifah, is the most virtuous of all nights. It is the most virtuous night of all, the night of Muzdalifah. On this night, you rested the whole night.
You did not stand in prayer. You rested the whole night. You did not perform Tahajjud in it. It is strange. You rested on the night of the day of worship. But there is no night of Ghazwa in which your head was not in prostration all night long. Look at it. The night of the day of worship is for rest, the nights of the days of Dawah are for prostration. You did not lift your head until you had settled with Allah that if this group perished, there would be no one left in Your world to worship You. Just as you accepted this Ummah in that era, it is the responsibility of every follower to struggle through nights and hardships to secure Allah's decree of guidance for the Ummah. I do not agree with the idea that everyone should live their faith as they please and keep working while compromising in between. This is not the work of this Ummah. The work of this Ummah is to win over Allah and open the path of guidance from Him for themselves and all their countrymen. I kept thinking late into the night about
how I could go and wake this gathering. Tell those who make announcements not to do so in such a timid, fearful manner. I was thinking you would form a group that could rouse the entire gathering. Everyone should weep and cry out to Allah in tears. Allah would have shown mercy. They would not lift their heads from prostration. Not until their hearts were certain that Allah had ordained their success. What should I say? If our workers are gathering for the program of work without worship, then this is a deception of effort. It is a deception of effort. It is a deception of effort. To connect Allah's servants to Allah, we must strive hardest with Allah through worship.
That is why three tasks were joined together. Dawah, then worship, then supplication. Here there is Dawah and supplication; Dawah, worship, and supplication. R. Therefore, pay great attention to standing in prayer at night. Abu Bakr (RA), while sending off groups, would advise, "If you do two things more, Allah's help will be with you: first, standing in prayer at night , and second, the recitation of the Quran." If the recitation of the Quran were audible in this entire gathering ...The whole gathering doing it— Maulana Mahmood says, this field, meaning Dawah, has the most virtue.
This field, this field of ours, is the field of Dawah. This is not our gathering, because the Companions who were with the Prophet (PBUH) would all be engaged in the same act together. The deeds of the Companions used to be collective. The deeds of the Companions used to be collective. All. This night here seems as if it were daytime. The entire gathering should be in collective recitation, in remembrance, and all in Tahajjud at once, because if one section does it and another doesn't , a collective atmosphere is not visible. Even negligence in one corner is enough for the negligence of all.
May Allah reward you with goodness, may Allah reward you with goodness. The sacrifices with which you have come, the sacrifices with which you are here, there is no doubt in this. We should thank Allah for what has been done and be concerned about what has not been done. He forgives shortcomings through gratitude. This is how we must organize our deeds. One is Ikram (honor). Ikram. The reality of Ikram is to treat everyone as they deserve. We must practice Ikram through service while being in the path of Allah. Do your own work and be of service to others. If the Prophet (peace be upon him) could pick wood from the forest himself. What is our status? Offer yourself for service. Let me do this. Let me do this . I will wash the dishes. I will bring the wood. I will light the fire. He ( peace be upon him) would join the companions in such a way that newcomers would ask, "Which one is Muhammad?"
Therefore, we must develop humility within ourselves through service. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, " Allah's connection is with the servant. " The servant's connection with Allah remains as long as he serves others. Therefore, especially in times of hardship, help the weak. Do your own work. Participate in collective work. Do not consider any work below your status. Service-related deeds are Prophetic deeds; this is not just a program, it is Da'wah, and these are the deeds of Da'wah and the deeds of the Prophet (peace be upon him). This is how we must honor ourselves. We must practice developing humility through it . All these deeds should be for the pleasure of Allah. It comes in the Hadith that even the slightest show is Shirk (associating partners with Allah) . All these deeds will be solely for the pleasure of Allah. Therefore, keep checking your intentions. Keep your intentions in mind repeatedly in every action. Keep begging Allah for sincerity while weeping. One is Ikhlas
(sincerity), and one is Istikhlas ( devoted sincerity). Do this work with total focus. We must protect ourselves from irrelevant talk and meaningless tasks. Istikhlas is this. Work by being devoted to the work. Ikhlas is this: work for the sake of Allah. Ikhlas is this: do it for Allah. Istikhlas is this: work by being dedicated to this mission. Save yourself from things that are against the temperament of this work. Do not get involved in useless talk or discussions of discord. Keep yourself so occupied with your work that you are naturally protected from things you shouldn't be doing. There is simply no free time. Brother, listen to what this is about, that I am thinking of teaching the Kalima to a few people.
Let me meet people and bring them to the mosque. Let me sit them down and invite them. If our community does not get used to individual invitation, it will fall prey to some mischief. If our gathering does not become accustomed to individual Dawah, it will fall prey to some trial. We have a lot of work to do . We have absolutely no time for things we shouldn't be doing. I am suggesting that eight hours are required from every Muslim. He should give eight hours to the mosque. He will give eight hours to the mosque. Where does he have the time? He also has to do business.
He also has to look after his children. He also has to take rest. He has to manage all his tasks in 16 hours. He has to give eight hours to the mosque. This point of mine is very important. Everyone must hear this, and may Allah reward you all; start implementing this in your mosques. The group of every mosque should form teams by requesting time for the mosque from those coming to pray, with extreme respect, gentleness, and by explaining the virtues. As of yet, there is no organized effort for local work. We do organize for a 40-day mission (Chilla).
We also organize for four-month missions. But for the daily upkeep of the mosque—eight, six, or at least four hours—there is no such effort. Brother, so-and-so, who is ready? For eight hours. Ask your group in the mosque. One gentleman stood up. Yes, I am ready. Brother, what is your name? My name is Abdul Rahman. Brother, write his name, Abdul Rahman; Abdul Rahman is ready for eight hours. Brother, any other companions? Yes, I am also ready.
I am also ready. I am also ready. I am also ready. One stood up and said, "I cannot give eight hours." I am willing. I will give four hours in the morning. I will give four hours in the evening. Yes, that is fine. That is appropriate. I am in such and such job. I cannot give eight hours continuously. There is no harm in that. You give three hours in the morning. Give three hours in the evening. Give three hours at night. The work of keeping the mosque populated can also be done after Isha prayer.
Shouldn't one do it? It is Sunnah. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would pray Isha delayed in Masjid Nabawi. He used to go to the neighborhood of the Ansar after Isha. Standing there, you would tell the Ansar about past events. Your feet would become swollen from standing . You would lift one foot and place the other. Traditions state that for a long time, standing, you would recount events before the Hijrah to the Ansar.
This path will have hardships and suffering. This work is not organized; Muslims will be found whenever and wherever. The Ansar were farmers and were unavailable all day; to meet them, you would go after Isha prayers, which were held late in the night. In your palaces, prayers are held on time; if you do not use this free time for Dawah or worship, it will surely be used for some sin. That is why I insisted that we must protect our time and avoid poisonous talk. There are many baseless things, and this is the age of mobile phones. Earlier, someone had to sit with another person to gossip.
Sometimes it required sitting, them there and me here. Now the situation is this. One is sitting in this country. The other is sitting in that country. And it is going on. People say these things have made things convenient. I say there is no convenience in the work of Deen. Yes, there is great convenience in committing sins. Reconstruction of the Ummah. These circumstances have made sins collective. These circumstances have made sins contagious. These circumstances have eliminated the need to gather and sit together for sins.
You can commit sins together even while staying apart. Look, it comes in the Hadith that it is enough for a man to be a liar if he passes on everything he hears. Isn't that in the traditions? Therefore, my dear friends, make yourself habitual to work; our time should be spent in three tasks. Either in Dawah, or in worship, or in the gatherings of scholars for teaching and learning. These are just these three tasks. He used to say if these three tasks were not in the world. Traveling in the path of Allah is the first thing . Which people today call: is this even a task? Is this even a task? Hazrat Umar says if traveling in the path of Allah were not there, I would not like to live in this world. If performing long prostrations to Allah were not there, I would not like to live in this world. If sitting daily in the gatherings of scholars of truth to pick and choose their words like one selects the finest dates to eat. If such seeking of knowledge from scholars ' gatherings were not there, I would not
like to live in this world. Hazrat Umar is the one inspired by this Ummah. The truth was placed upon his tongue. Angels would speak through that tongue. He is saying that there are only three tasks to do while living in this world. Otherwise, there is no joy in living in this world. Dawah, Ta'leem, and Ibadah. If these three tasks were not there, I would not want to live in this world. Therefore, my dear friends, we must collectively align ourselves and proceed according to this sequence and direction. We are going out in the path of Allah. Walk in obedience to your Ameer. Look, this issue of obedience to the Ameer is a significant matter.
Abdullah bin Jubair was responsible for a group. Some companions in the group refused to follow his command. Obeying him was equivalent to obeying the Messenger of Allah. They did not say that the supreme leader is someone else . You are a minor leader. We will obey the supreme leader. We will not obey the minor one. Whatever the minor leader was doing, he was doing it under the command of the supreme leader. You had appointed Jubair. This happened in the field of Uhud when they came down from their post. Forty companions came down. Because of these forty breaking the command and their disobedience, Allah made everyone from Muhammad (PBUH ) to the common companion face difficult circumstances. Listen carefully, hardships came upon everyone . Hardships came upon everyone. The polytheists turned back and attacked.
It is not that only the group was affected by the disobedience. This is just one area. The people there did this. It will not affect everyone. That is not the case. I am saying what I am saying with understanding. The disobedience of a single part of those moving together will affect the whole. You can see that in the field, companions killed other companions. They clashed with each other, not knowing who was who. Only because in one part of the battlefield, a group, a few people of a group, opposed their local leader. What did they oppose? " The one who is senior to you and gave you this order, we will not accept this order anymore." Due to this, the entire field slipped from the hands of the Muslims into the hands of the others.
Therefore, I am requesting you to walk in obedience to your Ameer. Whatever the Ameer commands, fulfill it. As long as your Ameer does not force you to abandon prayer or commit Kufr, you must obey him. It has been stated that there is such vastness in obedience. Here, there is opposition even in permissible tasks. There, it was said that whatever he commands you, fulfill it; his obedience goes to this extent. As long as he does not command you to commit Kufr. As long as he does not command you to leave prayer. Obedience is up to that point, so walk in obedience to your Ameer. Our walking itself is a Dawah. Keep your gaze private. Do not look at worldly things with affection.
You will return with more love for the world than before. Whatever you see, consider it destined to become dust. Look at everything with the image of grave soil and the end of the entire universe in mind. Then, gradually, the love for these things will leave your heart. This path is very effective. Whatever you think of on this path, you will attain. The Hadith says that whoever sets out on this path will find what they seek. But you will not find Allah and His Messenger. You will not find Allah and His Messenger. I submit this regarding that. If, while setting out on this path, you also intend something that is needed for this path.
You, Masha Allah, listen to the Hadith. A companion asked the Prophet (PBUH), " O Messenger of Allah! A man sets out in the path of Allah to exalt the word of Allah and to spread His religion across the world. He intends to acquire an arrow, even though firing an arrow in the path of Allah carries great reward and will be light for him on the Day of Judgment." What did He (PBUH) say? "The arrow is among the highest forms of combat; the arrow is among the highest forms of Jihad." If he intended even for the arrow while setting out, He ( PBUH) said in an authentic narration, " For the one who desires this arrow, there is nothing in this world and the hereafter except this arrow."
